Woman Arrested in Lover’s Death
A 40-year-old man stabbed in what police described as a domestic-violence attack at a Garden Grove motel died early Saturday at UC Irvine Medical Center, authorities said.
Bruce Whipple of Westminster was found about 4:35 p.m. Friday with a stab wound to his back on the balcony of a room at the Fire-station Motel on Harbor Boulevard.
Officers arrested the victim’s girlfriend, Anna Marie Morgan, 27, on suspicion of attempted murder, Sgt. Mike Handfield said. Police plan to ask prosecutors to seek murder charges, he said.
Morgan is being held at Central Women’s Jail in Santa Ana in lieu of $250,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
Although domestic violence is more frequently carried out by men against women, Morgan is the second Orange County woman arrested in a week in connection with a domestic-violence killing.
