San Diego (7-5) at Cal State Northridge (2-8), 7--This is the final nonconference game for the struggling Matadors, who are coming off a loss at Brigham Young. Coach Bobby Braswell has had internal issues with which to deal. He suspended forward Chris Davis and guard Armand Thomas for the Brigham Young game for an undisclosed reason. They are expected to play tonight. Junior guard Ed Estavan has started the last four games and had a career-high 16 points against the Cougars. It is the first of four consecutive home games for the Matadors. On Sunday, the Toreros lost to Montana State in the championship game of the Holiday Stores Touch America Classic. San Diego’s senior guard Andre Laws is enjoying an excellent season, averaging 20.1 points and 3.6 rebounds.

Occidental (8-0) at Loyola Marymount (6-6), 7, KXLU-FM (88.9)--The Lions are licking their wounds after a 15-point loss at Montana in which Coach Steve Aggers was upset with their lack of effort. Of particular concern was that the front line of Greg Lakey, Andy Osborn and Keith Kincade was outplayed by the Montana forwards. Balance has been stressed as seven players average between 6.1 and 11.5 points. Occidental plays in Division III but the Tigers are no patsy. They have defeated their opponents by an average of 29 points. Loyola plays at Portland State on Saturday before heading into West Coast Conference play next week.
