GMs Like the Trade-Off

Never mind the individual statistics, or that the Boston Bruins have flourished since the Oct. 24 trade that brought Jason Allison and Mikko Eloranta to the Kings and sent Glen Murray and Jozef Stumpel to the Bruins.

The Kings like the deal.

“We got what we wanted,” General Manager Dave Taylor said before Thursday night’s game. “What Jason brought to our team is what we expected. He’s a dominant, No. 1 center. We’ve had some great No. 1 centers in L.A. with [Wayne Gretzky] and Marcel Dionne ... but not the real physical presence we have with Jason.

“He’s very effective down low and around the front of the net and behind, making plays. I like that aspect of the game. So, from that standpoint, we’re happy.”

Ditto, says his counterpart, Mike O’Connell.

“Any trade, it’s all about winning for me,” the Bruin general manager told the Boston Globe this week. “If you win, it’s good. If you don’t, it’s not good, and that’s how you have to assess it. Put all the personal points aside.”
