Loyola Marymount 75, St. Mary’s 64--Greg Lakey and Keith Kincade each had 14 points as a bigger and faster Loyola Marymount coasted to a Big West victory.
After taking an early 10-6 lead, St. Mary’s cooled considerably. The Gaels missed 16 consecutive shots from the floor and were outscored by the Lions, 20-2, during a nine-minute stretch as Loyola, behind Lakey’s eight points in the half, took a 32-18 halftime advantage.
Loyola (8-8, 1-1) continued to dominate in the second half, building its lead to as many as 22 points with 9:21 remaining.
St. Mary’s (5-10, 0-2) was led by Chase Poole’s 14 points.
