Woman With Knife Is Killed by Police
Long Beach police shot and killed a woman Saturday morning after she allegedly threatened them with a knife, police said.
Before the shooting near Fifth Street and Pine Avenue, the unidentified woman had held up a market with a knife about 11 a.m., said police spokeswoman Nancy Tabing. Police said the woman refused repeated commands to drop the knife. When she raised her arm and “appeared to be in the process of throwing the knife,” police officers fired at her, Tabing said.
The woman died about 3 p.m. at a hospital.
