Contest Hotel Add-Ons

I am compelled to respond to the letter “More Hotel Fee Add-Ons” (Dec. 30), regarding “resort fees.” I am strongly opposed to this type of inflammatory pricing, which gives many of us in the hospitality business a black eye.

All too often, these add-on fees are not disclosed when a reservation is placed. At that time the customer needs to ask, “Are there any additional fees or charges?”

I trust that the fees letter writer Sally Cullen was charged were disclosed on the registration form she signed at check-in. If not, we encourage her to dispute the additional charges with her credit card company.
