Scratch Hurts McInnis

Share

Although Marty McInnis didn’t say anything negative after the Mighty Ducks’ practice on Tuesday, it was easy to determine that the veteran winger was still bothered about being a healthy scratch for Monday’s 4-2 loss to the Kings.

“Obviously, I was aggravated,” said McInnis, who probably will return to the lineup tonight when the Ducks play host to Minnesota at the Arrowhead Pond. “No one wants to sit out. There are only so many games in a season. When things aren’t going well, you don’t want to be sitting on the sideline watching the guys work out there.”

In 49 games this season, McInnis has nine goals, 20 points and a plus-minus rating of minus-17. Forgettable numbers, for sure, but McInnis isn’t the only Duck who hasn’t gotten the job done this season. But Anaheim Coach Bryan Murray, whose team is 1-10-1 since Dec. 30, has to start somewhere.

“We have to penalize some guys if they are not playing at a high level,” Murray said. “If a guy doesn’t dress, he usually is upset.
