David Bell hit a three-run homer and the San Francisco Giants beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-3, Monday night to further narrow the NL West race.

The Giants moved within 1 1/2 games of the division-leading Dodgers. The Diamondbacks are a half-game out in second place.

Ryan Jensen (10-6) gave up two runs and eight hits over 5 2/3 innings. The rookie right-hander, who leads the Giants in victories, won his fourth consecutive start.

Robb Nen worked the ninth for the Giants, who have won six of their last seven games. He gave up an RBI single to Luis Gonzalez.

Rick Helling (7-8) has lost three consecutive starts and has given up 23 home runs, most in the NL. He went three innings, giving up five runs and five hits.

The Giants took a 1-0 lead in the first. Bell drew a leadoff walk, Jeff Kent doubled off the top of the left-field wall and Reggie Sanders hit a sacrifice fly.

Arizona tied the score in the second on Rod Barajas’ RBI single.

Bell hit his three-run homer into the left-field bleachers in the second, giving the Giants a 4-1 lead.

J.T. Snow had a solo homer to left in the third.

Snow, who has four home runs, had not homered at Pacific Bell Park since May 8 last season.

Bonds was intentionally walked by Helling the first two times he came up, giving the Giant slugger 41 such walks this season--four shy of Willie McCovey’s record of 45 in 1969.
