Sampras Lets Higueras Go
Pete Sampras has ended his short partnership with coach Jose Higueras, according to his representatives. They started working together in February, not long after Sampras parted ways with Tom Gullikson.
Higueras, however, was unable to travel with Sampras outside of the Grand Slam events because of his primary job as men’s coach for the USTA’s touring program. Apparently, Sampras realized that he needed a full-time coach.
Since reaching the U.S. Open final in 2001, he has had three coaches--Paul Annacone, Gullikson and Higueras.
