Marion Jones tied the year’s best time for the 100 meters, 10.84 seconds, to win at the Herculis track and field meet Friday at Monte Carlo.

The Olympic champion easily beat Tanya Lawrence of Jamaica, who finished in 10.95, and equaled the time turned in this month by world champion Zhanna Pintusevich-Block.

Jones stayed on course for a slice of the jackpot--110 pounds of gold worth about $500,000--which will be divided by athletes who win their event at all seven Golden League meets.
