The Dave Matthews Band’s “Busted Stuff” entered the nation’s album chart on Wednesday at No. 1 after registering the third-highest first-week sales this year, SoundScan reported.

The collection sold 622,000 copies, a figure exceeded only by Eminem’s “The Eminem Show,” which sold 1.3 million during its first week in the stores in May, and Nelly’s “Nellyville,” which sold 714,000 in its first week in June. The band’s last album, 2000’s “Everyday,” sold 730,000 copies in its first week.

Nelly’s album dropped to second place, selling 305,000, bringing its four-week total to 1.8 million. Eminem’s album placed third on the chart after selling 211,000 copies. The collection’s total sales are now 4.3 million.

The remaining spots in this week’s Top 10 were claimed by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Avril Lavigne, Irv Gotti, Styles, Ashanti, Counting Crows and Josh Groban.

After the Matthews Band, the highest-placing new release was the Vines’ “Highly Evolved,” which ranks No. 11 based on sales of 64,000. The Australian group is part of a cadre of new rock bands, including the White Stripes and the Strokes, that has begun building momentum in recent months.

On the singles sales chart, Wyclef Jean’s “Two Wrongs” bumped the remix version of Elvis Presley’s 1968 recording, “A Little Less Conversation,” out of first place. Bruce Springsteen’s “The Rising” finished second, with Presley at No. 3.
