From Times Staff Reports

Ventura police on Tuesday asked for the public’s help in solving the shooting death of a 20-year-old Ventura College student last month.

Jose Pimentel was shot three times May 21 as he stood outside his uncle’s Olive Street home in Ventura, police said. The shooter yelled an Oxnard gang slogan before running away.

Pimentel was not a gang member and police believe his killing was random. The black-haired gunman was described as Latino, about 18, 5 feet 7 and 130 pounds.
