Ship’s Crew Charged in Smuggling of 10 Chinese

The captain of a Taiwanese fishing boat and the vessel’s engineer were charged Thursday with smuggling for allegedly bringing 10 Chinese men to the Orange County coast last month.
Jin Yin Wang, the trawler’s captain, and Jin Long Guo, the engineer, face up to 50 years in prison if convicted on both counts. Wang has said he is innocent and that the 10 Chinese men hijacked the boat off Hawaii.
