From Times Staff Reports

A fast-moving fire burned the roof off a two-story home Tuesday afternoon on Bixler Court, causing extensive damage but no injuries, officials said.

Firefighters rescued a dog from the second story, Battalion Chief David Barlag said.

The blaze started at 2 p.m. as a roofing crew was removing material from the two-story section of the house.

Workers spotted smoke coming from the single-story section.

The fire may have started in the attic near an electrically powered vent, Barlag said.

Though the roof was destroyed, Barlag said, “the walls and inside of the house are still intact.”
