Teenager Benefits From Unprecedented Success

A teenager who allegedly stole a notebook computer and cash last week won’t be charged after a judge rejected an arrest warrant application, citing South Korea’s unprecedented success in the World Cup.

Judge Lee Jeon-ryul at the Jeonju District Court dismissed the application for the 16-year-old, saying the teenager reached settlement with the victim, the Yonhap agency reported.

“I rejected the arrest warrant because the whole country is filled with soccer fervor,” Lee said. “The suspect is likely to cheer for our team while watching the game.”
