Now Here’s a Switch: Someone Slams Tiger

Share

Monday’s quotebook had Tiger Woods saying that he already had won the slam and that this will be a different type of slam, it being the calendar year.

Apparently Tiger has achieved a Nike level of arrogance to where he feels he can rewrite traditions to suit him. That slam that he won was the different type of slam, and the one that is in the calendar year is universally recognized as the “Grand Slam.” That being the one that he has not yet achieved.

I must acknowledge I’m a bit taken aback by those who would criticize Phil Mickelson for being happy about his life and his accomplishments on the golf course. Here’s a young man, 32, who has won an astonishing 20 times on the PGA Tour, gaining him a lifetime exemption (make that 21--he has just won the Greater Hartford Open as I write); has millions of dollars, a private jet, a beautiful wife, two healthy children, and is ranked second on the planet behind arguably the best golfer ever to play the game.

Anyone who feels Phil should be complaining about his lot and should see a psychiatrist is in line for a bit of soul-searching himself!
