vs. No. 13 Oregon
1 p.m., Channel 2
Site--Pauley Pavilion.
Radio--KXTA (1150, 850).
Records--UCLA 19-9, 11-6, Oregon 21-7, 13-4.
Update--Oregon’s Frederick Jones probably cemented the Pacific 10 Conference most-valuable-player award when he made a last-second shot Thursday to beat USC and assure the Ducks of at least a share of their first regular-season title since 1944-45. Jones, a senior forward, has scored in double figures in 22 consecutive games and is shooting 57% in Pac-10 games. But he is hardly a one-man show. Sophomore point guard Luke Ridnour and 7-foot senior center Chris Christoffersen are among the most improved players in the conference. Reserve center Brian Helquist is questionable because of a knee injury. The Ducks defeated UCLA at Eugene, 91-62, Jan. 31, and are 16-0 at home, but they are only 5-7 on the road. UCLA has won the last 17 games against Oregon at Pauley Pavilion.
