A man was shot in the jaw Sunday apparently during an episode of road rage in Garden Grove, police said.

The victim was admitted to the intensive-care unit at UCI Medical Center in Orange but his injuries were not life-threatening, said Garden Grove Police Sgt. Ben Stauffer.

The incident occurred about 3:30 p.m. when a car traveling west on Chapman Avenue near Harbor Boulevard pulled up to a car and opened fire, striking a passenger, Stauffer said.

The car carrying the wounded passenger then struck another vehicle but continued to the hospital. It was not clear whether anyone else was injured.

Police said the car from which the bullets were fired fled the scene and they are looking for it.
