Meat Loaf Spreads the Love

Share

The Camaro Club at the Viper Room continues to rock. On Monday, veteran rocker Meat Loaf surprised everyone by jumping on stage with Metal Shop and belting out Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name.” Hot dog! Squawked by the Copro Nason Gallery in Culver City on Saturday for the closing of its colorful Paul Frank exhibit. Among the art lovers in the house were Copro owner Greg Escalante, L.A.’s patron saint of underground art....

Man, everyone’s still talking about the Toilet Boys performance at the Key Club last week. For devotees of the New York band, it’s like seeing KISS in its prime. Smooch smooch.

The Key Club tells me it’s hosting the Warped Tour kickoff party April 11 and the Vans Records launch party April 18, with a performance by Too Rude--the new label’s debut artist. (Too Rude also plays the Roxy this Saturday).... Attention, savvy promoters: the singer of the Deviates, Brian Barbara, says there are no venues for bands to play in the South Bay, despite the strong music scene there. He says bands and fans always have to schlep to Hollywood. Hmmm. Sounds like opportunity knocking.... Save the date: On May 4, Frank Black and the Catholics are coming to Hollywood’s Knitting Factory, which is happily becoming quite the home of super surprise shows. Beck recently rocked the house.... Soul lovers can check out singer Martin Luther on Saturday at Temple Bar in Santa Monica.

This just in: Ima Robot rescheduled its Troubadour date to April 4 (the L.A. buzz band was originally scheduled for April 1).... Scene fave the White Trash Debutantes are playing at the Coconut Teaszer on Saturday....

All right, hombres, tune in next week for full details of Wednesday night’s Denzel Washington party at the Sunset Room in Hollywood. Man, is it getting dishy in here or is it just me?
