Mobile Home Blaze Is Under Investigation
A mobile home was damaged by a blaze Monday that may have started in the kitchen, authorities said.
Ventura County Fire Department officials are investigating the cause of the fire that gutted the rear half of the mobile home on Ventura Boulevard. The owner, a 55-year-old woman, was at work but her poodle died in the blaze.
Despite high winds, no other mobile homes in the park were affected, said Fire Department spokeswoman Sandi Wells.
“With a quick response and some aggressive firefighting, they were able to keep it confined to this mobile home,” she said.
The blaze caused about $82,500 in damage, Wells said.
