Sewage Spill Closes 4,000 Feet of Coastline
Nearly a mile of coastline was closed to swimmers Wednesday after a sewage collection system backed up, authorities said.
The area--2,000 feet on each side of the Pico Drain--was closed at 12:45 p.m. after 6,000 gallons of sewage spilled. The muck entered the water when a private property sewage line became blocked, said Larry Honeybourne of the county Health Care Agency.
