A 39-year-old Oxnard man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing more than 9 pounds of methamphetamine and operating a home-based laboratory capable of producing the drug, authorities said Wednesday.

Alfonso V. Cano was taken into custody Monday night after deputies, who had been investigating his activities, saw Cano speeding in Fillmore, authorities said.

Deputies found some of the drugs inside Cano’s car, Sgt. Fred Bustillos said. During a search of Cano’s Oxnard home on Tuesday, Bustillos said, authorities found the remainder of the drugs and the lab.
