From Times Staff Reports

A brush fire burned 188 acres as 300 Los Angeles County firefighters, four water-dropping helicopters and two aircraft spreading flame retardant worked to control it, authorities said.

By 5:30 p.m., the fire was 75% contained, officials said.

One firefighter sustained a minor knee injury and was taken to an area hospital. No structures were damaged in the blaze, Inspector Kurt Schaefer said.

The fire started in the 5500 block of Ellisa Road about 11:45 a.m. and quickly spread uphill in erratic winds, Schaefer said.
