Hearing Set in Sex Case Involving Teacher

A preliminary hearing has been set in the case against a Camarillo High School teacher accused of sex acts with 11 male students.

Chad Pridgen, 30, is scheduled to appear July 23 in Ventura County Superior Court. Prosecutors said they expect the hearing, during which they will present their evidence against Pridgen, to last about two days.

The teacher and coach faces 33 felony and misdemeanor counts involving 11 teenagers, nine of whom were students of his at Camarillo High. He taught upper-level science courses and coached the school’s soccer and tennis teams.

Pridgen is on unpaid leave from the Oxnard Union High School District, where he has worked for six years.
