A massive earthquake rocked parts of Indonesia’s Sumatra island, injuring at least 35 people and damaging buildings. Seismologists in Singapore said there was a high risk of tsunami -- powerful waves caused by seismic activity -- in western Sumatra.

Indonesia’s Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said the quake was magnitude 5.3, but the U.S. Geological Survey and the Hong Kong Observatory said the quake registered 7.5.
