Blue Jackets Spoil Tugnutt’s Return, 4-2

Mike Sillinger and Andrew Cassels scored power-play goals in the third period Friday as the Columbus Blue Jackets spoiled goaltender Ron Tugnutt’s homecoming with a 4-2 victory over the Dallas Stars at Columbus, Ohio.

Ray Whitney and Tyler Wright also had goals for the Blue Jackets.

Tugnutt was the most popular Blue Jacket player in the franchise’s first two years, but was traded to the Stars last summer.

Washington 3, Tampa Bay 2 -- Peter Bondra scored on a two-man advantage with 1:12 left, lifting the Capitals at Washington.

Montreal 2, Carolina 2 -- Randy McKay scored two goals and Jose Theodore stopped 36 of 38 shots to lift the Canadiens to a tie at Raleigh, N.C.

Buffalo 1, Edmonton 1 -- Dmitri Kalinin scored a power-play goal at 6:39 of the third period to lift the Sabres to a tie with the Oilers at Edmonton, Canada.

The Chicago Blackhawks acquired center Andrei Nikolishin and left wing Chris Simon from the Washington Capitals for center Michael Nylander and a third-round draft pick.... The Carolina Hurricanes acquired Jan Hlavac and Harold Druken from the Vancouver Canucks for defenseman Marek Malik and Darren Langdon.... Phoenix Coyote forward Darcy Hordichuk was suspended for 10 games for bumping an official in a loss to Philadelphia.... St. Louis Blues’ winger Keith Tkachuk will be out four to six weeks because of a broken left foot.
