California officials appeared Friday before an NCAA appeals committee in Indianapolis in a bid to overturn the school’s one-year bowl ban.

The ban was issued in June after the program was cited for violations involving academic fraud and extra benefits.

A ruling on the appeal is expected within two weeks. California (5-4), which plays at Arizona State (7-3) today, needs one victory to become bowl eligible.
