Woman Fends Off Attack on Campus
Ventura County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the attempted rape of a student at Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
The woman, in her early 20s, was taking out trash at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday when a man grabbed her from behind, authorities said.
The man attempted to pull off her sweatpants, but the woman broke free, punched him in the nose and ran away. Deputies believe she may have broken his nose.
Detectives would not say where on campus the attack occurred. They are asking residents with information about the crime or knowledge of anyone with any recent or suspicious injuries to the nose or face to call detectives at
371-8397.
