McAlpine Makes Debut

Chris McAlpine, who played two games in the minors last weekend on a conditioning assignment, made his King debut in Tuesday night’s 4-0 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers, replacing Brad Norton.

“I talked to Brad Norton about it,” Coach Andy Murray said before the game. “I said, ‘It’s an opportune time for us to give McAlpine a game.’ I said, ‘We’re happy with what you’ve done, really impressed with what you’ve done.’ ...

“But McAlpine played two good games in Manchester [N.H.], especially the second game, and if we’re going to put him in, now’s a good time, rather than losing the effect of those two games.”

McAlpine, who played 90 games with the Chicago Blackhawks over two seasons before signing with the Kings as an unrestricted free agent in July, also is expected to play Thursday night at Chicago.

“I was just waiting for my chance,” McAlpine said.
