Ventura County prosecutors were prevented Tuesday for the third time from charging a former Oaks Christian Middle School principal with child molestation because he remains jailed in Los Angeles County on similar allegations.

Jonathan Andreas, 36, of Thousand Oaks was to be arraigned in Ventura County Superior Court on 15 counts of lewd conduct with a child for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old female student at the school in Westlake Village. Andreas, however, did not appear for the arraignment--the third such hearing scheduled so far--because he is detained in the Los Angeles County Jail on $1-million bail on suspicion of molesting two girls in that county.

Ventura County Superior Court Judge Kevin J. McGee set a new arraignment date for Oct. 1.

But Ventura County Deputy Dist. Atty. Douglas Ridley said he did not know whether the Los Angeles case would be resolved by then.

Andreas was arrested in Thousand Oaks in July but released on $250,000 bail. He was later arrested by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies.
