FOXBORO, Mass. — Major League Soccer scoring leader Taylor Twellman and Daniel Hernandez scored Thursday night, sending the New England Revolution past the Chicago Fire, 2-0, in a playoff opener.
The Fire will play host to the Revolution in Game 2 Sunday. The first team to five points (three points for a win, one for a tie) in the series advances.
Twellman, who had 23 regular-season goals, scored in the 13th minute. Hernandez’s goal came in the 60th minute.
