From Times Wire Reports
A Placer County sheriff’s deputy who died in a helicopter crash was remembered for his sense of humor, his skill as a pilot and his successful rescue efforts.
Paul Woodruff was killed last week when the helicopter he was piloting crashed near a reservoir.
“Even in this sad time I cannot think of Woody without smiling,” Sheriff Ed Bonner said Thursday.
Woodruff, 52, was working off-duty as an instructor April 10 when the helicopter crashed near Rock Creek Reservoir.
He and Andrew Bruton, 24, of Roseville were killed instantly.
