Teacher Arrested for Allegedly Molesting Boy

A teacher was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of sexually molesting a friend’s teenage son over a three-year period, authorities said.
Thomas West, 48, of Riverside teaches at Vista Heights Middle School and has worked for Moreno Valley Unified since 1983. He was placed on unpaid administrative leave Wednesday, a school official said.
The boy, 17, reported the alleged incidents to authorities Monday, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.
The incidents allegedly occurred between 1998 and 2001 at West’s former residence in Moreno Valley, authorities said.
