Tigers, historic places on the subcontinent

Ride an elephant, visit the Taj Mahal and take a Jeep safari through a wildlife park on low-cost 11-night tours to northern India.

The tours, available through Dec. 4 and from Jan. 5 to March 31, include a two-night stay in Singapore, then Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan, India. The final night will be in Delhi.

Cowgirls, saddle up and learn Western skills

LASSO a weekend in the saddle at a 10,000-acre Santa Barbara County cattle ranch during equestrian camps for aspiring female riders. The events will be Oct. 9 to 12 and Nov. 9 to 12.

The pricey sessions, called “Cowgirl Bootcamp,” will be at Alisal Guest Ranch, a down-home resort in Solvang.

Women wranglers will teach participants how to saddle up and will take them for morning rides.

Participants also will get lessons in lassoing, barrel racing, fly fishing, barbecuing, hat shaping and dancing the two-step.

Cost: $2,250 per person, double occupancy (single surcharge $1,600), including daily rides, studio accommodations, meals, in-room massage, nightly cocktail receptions, lessons and other activities.
