Ventura County sheriff’s deputies have broken up a small gambling operation run out of two homes near Camarillo, officials said Friday.

Manuel Salas, 22, and Daniel Barker, 19, were arrested Thursday on several charges related to the illicit business.

Sheriff’s investigators, aided by several local law enforcement agencies, found a slot machine, firearm and small amount of marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms at Salas’ address in the 8700 block of Santa Rosa Road near Camarillo, officials said.

Salas, a convicted felon, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, mushrooms, illegal slot machines and filing a false police report. He was booked at Ventura County Jail and later released on recognizance, jail officials said.

Deputies found two slot machines at Barker’s home in the 800 block of Retiro Court. Barker was arrested on suspicion of possession of slot machines. He was released and given notice to appear in court, authorities said.

Salas apparently had “casino night parties” at his home, authorities said.
