Portland Coach Cheeks Is Fined $7,500 by NBA
Coach Maurice Cheeks of the Portland Trail Blazers was fined $7,500 by the NBA for failing to leave the court quickly enough after being ejected from Sunday’s game.
The incident occurred with 1 minute 12 seconds to play in Portland’s 93-79 loss to the Grizzlies at Memphis, the league said in a statement.
The officials ejected Cheeks for arguing foul calls. Portland shot seven free throws and Memphis shot 16.
It was the first game between the teams since Portland traded disgruntled guard Bonzi Wells for Wesley Person four days earlier.

Detroit activated Chucky Atkins and Zeljko Rebraca from the injured list, and put Hubert Davis (sprained left thumb) and Darvin Ham (sprained right wrist) on the list.
Atkins had arthroscopic knee surgery Nov. 10. Rebraca had been out because of back spasms.
