Ties are fine in the NHL regular season, but hockey won’t take a page out of baseball’s book and have the All-Star game end in a draw.

If Sunday’s game is tied after three periods, there will be a five-minute, sudden-death overtime. If the deadlock is still not broken, the game will be decided by a shootout with five shooters for each team. Should the score remain tied, there will be a sudden-death shootout until a decision is reached.

Carolina Hurricane left wing Erik Cole will be out at least two months after breaking his left leg in Thursday’s loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Cole was injured when he landed awkwardly after being checked by Tampa Bay’s Dan Boyle in the second period.... The Florida Panthers sent defenseman Mathieu Biron to San Antonio of the American Hockey League and agreed to let him play for Team Canada in the upcoming Sweden Games.
