MPAA Senior Vice President to Retire

Bethlyn Hand is retiring from her post as senior vice president of administration and director of advertising at the Motion Picture Assn. of America after 37 years with the Hollywood studios’ main trade organization.

Hand began her career at MPAA headquarters in Washington in 1966 as assistant to the group’s newly appointed president, Jack Valenti. Nine years later she transferred to MPAA’s Los Angeles office to head the advertising/administration operation.

During her tenure, Hand was appointed to serve as vice chairman of the California Film Commission.

Hand, who will retire March 28, will be succeeded by Marilyn Gordon, an 18-year MPAA veteran.
