Man Hits Woman With Machete, Steals Truck
A carjacker was shot by San Diego County deputies Saturday night after he struck a woman with a machete and led officers on a chase in the stolen vehicle.
The suspect stole a machete from a store, approached the woman and demanded her keys. When she refused, he hit her on the head with the machete and took her keys and truck.
A mile away, he crashed into a tree, came out of the truck holding the machete and was shot, officials said. Wardell Robinson, 42, of San Diego is being held for investigation of robbery and assault. He was hospitalized. Her injuries were said to be minor.
