2 Small Tremors Recorded Near Fault

A pair of minor earthquakes struck Wednesday next to the San Andreas Fault where it skirts the southwestern San Joaquin Valley, but they apparently caused no injuries or damage.
The first, an estimated magnitude of 3.4, struck at 9:10 a.m., 18 miles south-southeast of Taft. The quake was not felt in Taft, police dispatcher Laura Finney said.
A second, estimated at 3.1, struck about a mile away at 1 p.m.
