Parents to Seek History Teacher’s Dismissal
From Staff and Wire Reports
Parents of a middle school student say they will ask the Lakeport Unified School District to fire a teacher who told their son to leave class for refusing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
Victoria Kearney said she wants David Laven dismissed.
Laven told the boy to stand outside the classroom when he wouldn’t say the pledge in his U.S. history class last semester. The eighth-grader said he refused to say the pledge because of his political beliefs.
