A hiker who had been missing for more than 16 hours found his way out of the Santa Ana Mountains in good condition Sunday morning, authorities said.

Joshua Knoke, 23, of San Clemente told police he became disoriented after forging ahead offellow hikers about 1 p.m. Saturday on the Silverado Creek Trail, said Sgt. Tom Gallivan of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Knoke said he walked all night and was picked up by a driver after making his way to the main road near Black Star Canyon, Gallivan said.
