Murray Moves Paying Off

Share

General Manager Bryan Murray wanted to improve the Mighty Ducks’ depth last summer.

His moves paid off Wednesday in the forms of center Jason Krog and right wing Rob Valicevic, both of whom signed during the summer and spent part of the season in the minor leagues. Both played key roles in a 4-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Krog had two first-period assists, helping the Ducks build a 3-0 lead. Valicevic scored what proved to be the game-winner in the third period.

Columbus defenseman Derrick Walser made a poor clearing attempt, sending the puck off the net and right to Valicevic’s stick. It was his first goal since Oct. 19, 2001, when he was with the Kings.

Krog’s two assists gave him five points in the last three games, all Duck victories.
