One associate of Marion “Suge” Knight was in custody and another a fugitive after they were charged with attempted murder of a man connected to the slaying of a member of the rap mogul’s inner circle.

The arrest of Terran Andrews, known as “Baby Jesus” or “Li’l Black Jesus,” and the warrant for Gregory “Fleetwood” Shelton are the latest charges stemming from a series of shootings involving individuals close to Knight. Four of Knight’s associates have now been charged. Knight is in jail for an alleged parole violation.

Andrews, 23, and Shelton, 24, were charged with attempted murder in the wounding Sept. 12 of Gary “Gary G” Phillips in Compton. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Bob Rifkin said the men were retaliating for the April 2002 killing of Alton “Buntry” McDonald, a friend of Knight and then an employee of his Tha Row Records.

Andrews was being held in lieu of $2 million bond. “We are continuing to investigate several shooting incidents involving those associated with Tha Row Records,” Rifkin said.

Knight was taken into custody Dec. 23. for allegedly violating his parole by associating with gang members. Knight, who served five years in prison for assault and federal weapons violations, said authorities were trying to pressure him to talk about homicides he knows nothing about.

Sheriff’s investigators stopped Knight’s car April 3 and found him with Timmy “Timmy Ru” McDonald, an alleged member of the Mob Pirus. The spate of shootings under investigation stemmed from a rivalry between two Blood gangs, the Mob Pirus and the Fruit Town Pirus, law enforcement officials said.

Timmy McDonald is a fugitive after being charged with attempted murder for allegedly trying to shoot another man Oct. 22 in retaliation for the slaying of Knight associate Henry “Hendog” Smith.

Another Knight associate, Theodore Kelly, 29, was arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with a Jan. 4 shootout with Long Beach police.

Kelly was one of three Knight associates arrested in November for allegedly conspiring to kill a gang rival.
