Woman Killed in 4-Car Pileup in Huntington Beach
A woman was killed Thursday evening in a four-car pileup at a Huntington Beach intersection, police said.
Cheryl McDonell, 50, of Huntington Beach was driving north on Magnolia Street about 5 p.m. when she slowed for a red light at Indianapolis Avenue and was rear-ended by a car driven by an 18-year-old man, said Lt. Craig Junginger, a spokesman for the Huntington Beach Police Department.
The force of the impact pushed McDonell’s car into the intersection, where it was hit by two other cars, causing her to be thrown from the passenger window, he said.
Both she and the 18-year-old man were treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital, where McDonell died of her injuries.
The unidentified man suffered non-life-threatening internal injuries.
The cause of the crash was under investigation, Junginger said.
