Man Dead, Woman Hurt in Small-Plane Crash
From Staff and Wire Reports
A light plane crashed Friday morning at the Truckee-Tahoe airport, killing one of two aboard, airport officials said.
The two-seat Globe Swift plane, made in the 1940s, crashed during takeoff just after 11 a.m., said Carl Brun, a radio operator at the airport.
A male died, and a female was badly injured, emergency officials said. They did not know the victims’ identities and had few other details.
Brun said he didn’t hear a distress call before he looked up and saw the plane’s wreckage and called 911.
