Woman Badly Burned by Fire Ignited by Candle
A 73-year-old woman was seriously burned early Saturday after an unattended candle ignited a fire inside her ranch-style home, firefighters said.
The blaze in the 6100 block of Robin Way was reported about 5:15 a.m.
Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Stephen Miller said 20 firefighters brought the blaze under control about 5:30 a.m.
The woman was treated at UCI Medical Center in Orange for first- and second-degree burns on her head and shoulders.
Property damage was estimated at $25,000.
Miller said a smoke detector with no battery was found in the kitchen.
