Diamondbacks Win Again at Home

Shea Hillenbrand homered and drove in four runs as the Arizona Diamondbacks tied a team record with their 11th straight home victory, beating the San Diego Padres, 8-3, Wednesday night at Phoenix.

Craig Counsell, Luis Gonzalez and Steve Finley also homered for Arizona, making it easier for Chris Capuano (1-2) to earn his first major league victory.

The Diamondbacks have won four in a row overall and 18 of 21.

Hillenbrand hit a three-run homer off Jake Peavy (8-7) in the fifth for a 6-1 lead. He added a sacrifice fly in the seventh off reliever Mike Matthews, giving him four RBIs in this game and 11 in the last three.

Hillenbrand has 11 hits in his last 14 at-bats, and is hitting .368 in 18 games with Arizona since being acquired from Boston.

Colorado 11, San Francisco 7 -- Preston Wilson had four hits and four RBIs and Juan Uribe hit a three-run homer at Denver as the Rockies ended the Giants’ three-game winning streak.

Barry Bonds drove in four runs for the Giants, including a three-run homer, his 27th of the season and 640th of his career. Bonds needs 20 more homers to tie Willie Mays for third on baseball’s career list.

Milwaukee 2, Pittsburgh 1 -- Wes Helms’ infield hit drove in the winning run with two out in the 12th inning at Milwaukee.

Brooks Kieschnick (1-1) singled as a pinch-hitter in the 11th, then pitched a hitless 12th for the victory.

Houston 12, Cincinnati 2 -- Jeriome Robertson became the first Astro rookie to win seven straight decisions and Adam Everett hit his first career grand slam at Houston.

Robertson (8-3) hasn’t lost since April 25, a span of 13 starts.

Philadelphia 2, Montreal 0 -- Kevin Millwood pitched a three-hitter and Bobby Abreu homered right after Philadelphia broke up Tomo Ohka’s no-hit bid in the seventh inning at Montreal.

Chicago 5, Florida 1 -- Kerry Wood pitched a three-hitter, striking out 12, at Chicago.
