A Los Angeles man was taken into custody early Sunday on suspicion of kidnapping a woman and driving her to Lake Piru, according to Ventura County sheriff’s officials.

Leon Tomas, 26, was being interviewed by detectives Sunday night and had not been booked into jail. The victim told authorities that Tomas followed her home from her job at a San Fernando Valley fast-food restaurant Saturday night and abducted her.

The pair were spotted about 6:30 a.m. Sunday by a ranger who asked them to leave the lake because they didn’t have a camping permit. Tomas sped off, leaving the victim behind, authorities said.

She then told the ranger she had been kidnapped.

Tomas was arrested about 6:45 a.m. after his car ran out of gas and deputies found him walking on a road near the lake.
