Officer Is Wounded in Shootout Near Wal-Mart

A police officer who exchanged gunfire with a man outside a Wal-Mart store was recovering Saturday from bullet wounds to his face, shoulder and torso, authorities said.
The 35-year-old man who allegedly fired multiple shots at the officer was killed in the confrontation, according to Mike Miller, a Ukiah city spokesman.
